The 2023 season of Cross Egypt Challenge will start on October 5 and will include 2 new first-time destinations, Fayed and Nuwebaa. The new route totals 2,900 km, includes 8 stages, and spans over 10 days, with one rest day planned in Egypt’s famous Luxor.
The new route will start from the Mediterranean’s largest seaport city; Alexandria then heads south by the edge of the Western Desert towards Minya. After spending the first night in Minya, the challenge will head further south to reach Luxor, the capital of ancient Egypt and the largest open-air museum in the world where the participants will enjoy a rest day for sightseeing in this magnificent destination.
From Luxor the participants will cross the Egyptian eastern desert – one of the most challenging deserts on the face of the planet due to its rock formation and high mountain range – heading east to reach Hurghada, then north to Fayed to enjoy these two beach destinations by the Red Sea.
From Fayed, the challenge will make its way into Sinai to make its first stop at the city of peace, Sharm El Sheikh and from there, the challenge will head north to the beautiful camping destinations, Nuwebaa where the participants will enjoy the night camping under the stars before heading west again to reach Ras Sudr, a small beach destination at the shores of the Red Sea and the kite surfing capital of Egypt.
The final leg of the season will then take place between Ras Sudr and Cairo to end the season in one of the most ancient places in Egypt and the world, under the Step Pyramid of Djoser in the Sakkara area.
