2021 ROUTE

As Cross Egypt Challenge 2020 was cancelled due to the global COVID-19 situation, the 2021 season of Cross Egypt Challenge will mark the 10th anniversary season of the famous challenge, therefore a new and special route has been crafted to celebrate this special occasion.

The 10th anniversary season will run between October 7 and 16, 2021 and will include 7 different stages, and will witness the return of the challenge to the Sinai peninsula to celebrate 10 years of CEC.

The season will as usual start from Alexandria, Egypt's second largest city and the biggest port on the Mediterranean sea, then heads south to the capital Cairo before riding along the Nile valley down to Minya. From Minya, the challenge will make its way further south to reach Luxor, the capital of ancient Egypt and the largest open air museum in the world where the riders will enjoy a rest day for sightseeing in this magnificent destination.

From Luxor the challenge will then head east to cross the Egyptian Eastern desert - one of the most challenging deserts on the face of the planet due to its rock formation and high mountain range - to  get to Hurghada by the shores of the Red Sea. From Hurghada, a ferry boat ride is planned to move the  entire challenge, crew, participants and vehicles to Sharm Elsheikh in the Sinai peninsula.

From Sharm Elsheikh, the challenge will make a small tour of Sinai including the cities of Dahab and Ras Sedr before making the way back to Cairo to end the challenge under the great pyramids of Giza.
