- History is accomplished
The longest leg in the history of Cross Egypt Challenge was the 2014
season final with 430 km that was completed on November 22nd , 2014. The
2015 season final added 20 additional kilometer, making the final leg of
the season between El Gouna and Cairo the longest leg in the history of
Cross Egypt Challenge.
With 450 km to finish in one day, and with an early start before the
sun even rises, the riders managed to complete their journey and reach
the greatest site in all of Egypt, the Great Pyramids of Giza, and the
finish line of the 5th anniversary season of Cross Egypt Challenge in
due time for final celebration of the season to be conducted before
After 2200 km throughout Egypt, 9 days, and numerous number of hours on
motorcycles and scooters, the fifth anniversary season of the challenge
was over. Mission accomplished.
Friday, October 30th, 2015
- The day before the last
Waking up to the desert and enjoying a Bedouin breakfast at the
desert camp was a different yet enjoyable experience to the riders.
After finishing breakfast and setting up, the leg from Marsa
Alam to El Gouna was pretty much enjoyable for everyone as the scenes
and the views of the shore to the right and the mountains to the left
composed a perfect landscape for a motorcycle and a scooter ride.
The riders reached the up scale resort city of el Gouna early in the day
where they enjoyed the pool, and wandering around the city, before the
final feedback meeting of the season was conducted in the evening and
participation certificate were handed to all successful riders who
finished all the previous stages.
Thursday, October 29th,
2015 - Crossing the desert
Crossing the Egyptian eastern
desert for the second time from Luxor to Marsa Alam and arriving to the
"Characters of Egypt" festival to spend the night in a desert camp was
the highlight of the 2015 season.
The route taken to Marsa Alam
from Luxor through the eastern desert included mountains views, twisted
roads, and absolute rocky desert surfaces which created an ultimate
experience for all riders to be riding on these roads.
after completing this difficult yet enjoyable leg, the
riders have arrived to the Characters of Egypt annual festival that was
held this year in lieu with the timing of the 2015 season of the
challenge. A great opportunity to the participants to attend one day of
the festival, and learn more about the Bedouin culture of the Bedouin
tribes of Egypt.
Tednesday, October 28th,
- 5 years went by
Everyone felt so lazy in the second rest day in Luxor and spent the day
either by the pool or enjoying the Nile view from the hotel. A big night
celebration of the fifth anniversary of Cross Egypt Challenge was
planned with the presence of the mayor of Luxor where he handed the city
shield to the organizing team in recognition of this special occasion.
Everyone enjoyed the folkloric music and performances before they head
back to bed to get rested before they once again resume the tough
challenge after two days of rest in one of the greatest cities of Egypt.
Tuesday, October 27th, 2015 -
A ride in the sky
The riders stayed in Luxor for two days for rest and in celebration
for the fifth anniversary season of Cross Egypt Challenge. On the very
early morning on day 5 and even before the sun rises, almost all riders
head to take a hot air balloon ride over Luxor and enjoy the city
landscape from close space. It was a marvelous experience, and everyone
enjoyed it and kept sharing their photo in air in social media
Later that afternoon, many riders continues their sightseeing
activities to visit Luxor's west bank, while others spend a lazy
afternoon around the pool in the hotel overlooking the Nile.
Monday, October 26th, 2015
- Closed roads!!!
With heavy rain for most of the previous day, and news about floods
coming from the top of the Red sea mountain range, there was almost
certain news that roads leading out of Hurghada and into Luxor will be
definitely closed on this day. However ever rain stopped for most of the
night, and by Monday morning, the roads leading to Luxor were all in
The riders took to the road as early as possible before
further rain take place, and while crossing the Eastern desert was one
difficult task, everyone enjoyed the scenery and the change of road
It was a great leg, and by the time they arrived to
Luxor, the capital of ancient Egypt and the largest open air museum in
the world and also their destination for the next two days, it was time
for some temple visits, and sigh seeing.
- Enjoying the shoreline
The riders started the day with the usual daily morning brief, then
rode down the coast of the Red Sea or what is called the Red Sea Riviera
from Ain Sokhna to Hurghada. This leg was 280 km but a
good part of the road was twisty with mountains on one side and the Red
Sea cliffs on the other side.
There was also heavy road construction on the road and mixed
with rain from the previous days, this part was extremely difficult for
the riders to go through and almost in the last 70 kilometers, it
started to rain heavy but this didn't stop the riders from completing
this leg under the heavy rain.
By the time they arrived to
the hotel, all wet, everyone rushed into the Red Sea for a proper swim
under the rain for the rest of the afternoon.
2015 - Outta Cairo and to the
On the second day and with an early start, the riders rode across the
capital Cairo from one side to another to get to Cairo-Suez road en
route to their destination for the second day, Ain Sokhna.
The roads were smooth at the beginning but got rough after
they left Cairo due to road maintenance between Cairo, Suez and Ain
Amid way around noon time, the riders enjoyed their first
lunch meal prepared by CEC "Desert Chefs", Cross Egypt Challenge’s
very own culinary team who for the next few days will prepare lunches
for the riders and the crew in the middle of no where. A variety of
meals are planned so the team enjoys different tastes and culture on the
In the early afternoon, the riders made it safe to Ain
Sokhna, and enjoyed the beach before the sun sets down, and later that
night they had their first get together for an ice breaking and
networking meeting where they enjoyed getting introduced to each other
after two days of riding together.
- Three, Two, One, Go!
Friday, October 13th marked the first day of the 2015 season of Cross Egypt
Challenge. Several motorcycle and scooter riding groups joined Cross
Egypt Challenge in the first leg of the season between Alexandria and
The say started with a brief to all participating riders and
groups in City Centre Alexandria. Over 200 riders joined us in what is
believed to be the biggest ride ever between Alexandria and Cairo.
By mid day and right after the lunch stop a sand storm
started, and the last part of the first day was extremely difficult due
to low visibility and side wind filled with sand, however everyone made
it safe to the hotel where they enjoyed a relaxing evening.
2015 - All aboard!
Participants of the 2015 and 5th anniversary season of Cross Egypt
Challenge have been arriving to both the capital Cairo and to Alexandria
over the past week.
The orientation meetings of the new season was conducted in
the morning of October 12th when where everyone was present. 75
participants from all over the globe along with members of the
organizing team attended the orientation meetings and were directed on
how the next 9 days will look like.
The official riding gear was distributed to the team
followed by a welcome lunch at Alexandria's high end Jungle restaurant.
After lunch, the riders headed to City Centre Alexandria to
celebrate the official launch of Cross Egypt Challenge 2015. A huge
celebration took place and was aired live on the Egyptian satellite
